BASKETBALL AT PURLEY YOUTH CENTRE

If you’re looking for a physical activity to get your child off the couch, basketball is a sport that your boy or girl can start at an early age. Playing basketball helps children learn basic coordination and team-building skills with an added bonus of making new friends along the way. Here at PYP we encourage boys and girls of all ages and abilities to take part in our basketball sessions, starting off learning basic basketball skills and progressing onto playing a full game, starting off at a young age not only helps encourage exercise, but serves as a foundation for staying active later in life.

Children ages 6 to 17 require at least one hour of moderate-intensity physical activity every day. Kids should engage in vigorous-intensity physical activity three days each week. Learning basketball allows children to incorporate frequent physical activity into their daily routines and contributes to overall physical well-being and fitness.

Our basketball hoop was very old, broke completely quite recently. As we are a charity, who is self-funding and self-supporting, our funds are limited. I wrote to various companies, and was very surprised when I got a reply from a fantastic company called Big Game Hunters. They said they were willing to supply as with a brand new basketball surround and hoop – a Bee Ball ZY-024.
It is amazing that they are going to help the children of Purley Youth Project, so they are able to carry on playing the great game of Basketball.

Words cannot describe how grateful we are to everyone at Big Game Hunters.

The aim of the Purley Youth Project is to provide an environment where young people can flourish.
